In response to the Government of Uttarakhand’s proposed hydro electric projects on the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) prepared a cumulative impact assessment to: assess the baseline status of rare, endangered and threatened (RET) species; indentify critically important habitats along existing and planned projects; delineate river stretches for critical conservation of RET aquatic species; and asses key habitat variables for RET’s.
